BUTTERWORTH: The Defence Ministrywill set up a high-level committee to investigate several alleged scandals linked to the Armed Forces. DefenceMinisterMohamed Sabu said he will seek the Cabinet’s approval to form such a committee. The DefenceMinistry has been rockedwith several allegations of impropriety – from the controversial purchase of the Scorpene submarines to equipment malfunction and corruption among its rank and file. There is also an allegation of sale of premiumurban land that belonged to the Armed Forces and its retirement fund board. “The committee will probe the allegedwrongdoings to determine if there are grounds for prosecution or disciplinary action,”Mohamed said before breaking fast with servicemen at the Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) here base on Saturday.
